Ironically, as much as Jakob is undoubtedly a Zimmerman, in every aspect of his public persona, he is as much an off-shoot of his mother and her family tree. The combination produced one of the most charismatic, mystically handsome and inscrutable faces and performers ever. Sara Dylan was a vibrantly beautiful woman, described by many who were there in the golden decade ('66-'76) as "queenly." Correctly so. The irony, to me, and this is subjective opinion, is that when I hear Jakob sing (especially when I just hear without seeing him), I hear Bruce Springstein, much more than dad. Am I the only one who noticed this anomaly? But, of course, when you hear AND SEE Jakob sing and play, the whole vibe---the face, expressions, body type, rock poses and performance style---helps to lessen the Bruce comparison. Jakob can't help it. It's funny. You have all these youtube Dylans who cover Bob's songs, and are quite obviously TRYING to channel Bob through not only his singing and performing style (some carry it off eerily so), and then you've got the child, who has the whole engram in his blood and sweat. It's just the way he is, without emulation. I'd be curious to see Bob's father, on film, as a young stud. I bet ol' Abe Z. was also one koool old Jew, in his won right.
